TERM 41 CONTACT/SUGGESTION POST

Hi everyone! I'm Johanna //

monkiainen of Hufflepuff and I will be your mod again for term 41!

Membership in Sugarquill is open to the public, so you do not need to be a member of

hogwartsishome to post your fic/art, review others', and participate in any non-points-earning activities. However, only

hogwartsishome members can participate in Writer’s Block challenges and earn points for their house. If you are interested in joining, you can fill out an application and get sorted at

platform_934.

Just a friendly reminder that if you have earned points for something elsewhere in HiH, you cannot submit it again here. You can only earn points for fic/art once.

Remember that any sigtag you use must be 100px height or less. Please check out the profile page for more information about general facts and posting guidelines.

2. You will have 48 hours to submit your work. Fics or art must be posted by 11:59pm UTC on Sunday, July 15 (Timezone Converter)
3. For the underlying piece, point calculations shall follow the regular Sugarquill point schedule (word/30; quality of art). However, per the (b) exception to Rule 3, Rule 3(b)(1) Saturday Specials are not subject to the cap. They are a bonus challenge worth 10 extra points and added at the end of the month. Meaning, while the underlying work may only extend upward to the 125 point ceiling, the 10-point bonus for participating in a Saturday Special may exceed 125 (unlike normal challenge bonuses that are calculated in conjunction with the underlying piece and subject to the 125 restraints). So, for example, you can post 92 points this week, post a Saturday Special story worth 33 points (which would be the minimum at 1000/30), reach 125 for the week AND then get an additional 10 points (for a total of 135) for doing the Saturday Special. The 10 extra points will be noted on the spreadsheet.
4. Your work must meet the following minimum requirements to get those lovely bonus points:

Mod Post: Comment Points

Starting from today, a new rule has been added to

hh_sugarquill:

By leaving an elaborated comment to a fanwork posted in

hh_sugarquill, you will earn 5 points to your House.

We had a test run of this particular rule on term XXXIX, and after going through feedback it has now been decided it should be added as a permanent rule to the community.

What counts as an elaborated comment then? Think of elaborated comments in

platform_934 or in

hh_stamping - that's what we're looking for as well. Here are some examples to give an idea what I'm talking about:

There is no certain word amount or number of sentences you need to write in order to receive the points. The main point is that the Sugarquill Mod can clearly see from your comment you have actually read the fic in question (So generic comments like "Nice work"! etc. will not count) and given some thought to your comment. You will only earn points by commenting on fanworks posted during the current month – ie. you can't earn comment points for July by commenting a work that was posted on May and so on.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them in the comments – they are all screened.

Fic: Open A Book and Dare To Dream (Hermione Granger, No Challenge)

Title: Open A Book and Dare To Dream
Summary: It was time for Hermione to do her part to help in the upcoming fight against Lord Voldemort. And this battle was going to start where all battles should — at the greatest Wizarding library in the world.

Saturday Special: May 3.0

2. You will have 48 hours to submit your work. Fics or art must be posted by 11:59pm UTC on Sunday, May 27 (Timezone Converter)
3. For the underlying piece, point calculations shall follow the regular Sugarquill point schedule (word/30; quality of art). However, per the (b) exception to Rule 3, Rule 3(b)(1) Saturday Specials are not subject to the cap. They are a bonus challenge worth 10 extra points and added at the end of the month. Meaning, while the underlying work may only extend upward to the 125 point ceiling, the 10-point bonus for participating in a Saturday Special may exceed 125 (unlike normal challenge bonuses that are calculated in conjunction with the underlying piece and subject to the 125 restraints). So, for example, you can post 92 points this week, post a Saturday Special story worth 33 points (which would be the minimum at 1000/30), reach 125 for the week AND then get an additional 10 points (for a total of 135) for doing the Saturday Special. The 10 extra points will be noted on the spreadsheet.
4. Your work must meet the following minimum requirements to get those lovely bonus points:

Writing: 500 words!
Art: Finished - Good or better

5. Do not add the 10 extra points yourself. I will do it for you. Think of this as a "no challenge" piece. :)
6. Label your submission with "May 3.0" somewhere in the subject line AND use the "!saturday special" tag.
